木質粉狀活性炭是以果殼和木屑為原料精制而成,外觀為黑色細微粉末狀,無毒、無味,具有比表面積大,吸附能力強,化學性能穩定,可耐強酸強堿,能經受水浸、高溫。比表面積高達1000~1500平方米/克,屬于多孔性的疏水性吸附劑。適用于制糖、制藥、飲料、酒類等水質的凈水行業,對有機物溶劑的脫色、精制、提純和污水處理方面也廣泛使用。
木質粉狀活性炭對水中溶解的有機物如:三鹵 及前體物質、四氯化碳、苯類、酚類化學物有較強的吸附能力;對色度、異臭、異味、亞甲基藍表面活性物質、除草劑、殺蟲劑、農藥、合成洗滌劑、合成染料、胺類化學物等也用較好的去除效果;對汞、鋁、鐵、鎳、鋅、鈷等也有較強的吸附能力;但對氨氮的吸附去除率較低。

活性炭注意事項
1、活性炭在運輸過程中,防止與堅硬物質混狀,不可踩、踏,以防炭粒破碎,影響質量。
2、儲存應儲存于多孔型吸附劑,所以在運輸儲存和使用過程中,都要 防止水浸,因水浸后,大量水充滿活性空隙,使其失去作用。
3、活性炭防止焦油類物質在使用過程中,應禁止焦油類物質帶入活性炭床,以免堵塞活性炭空隙,使其失去吸附作用。較好有除焦設備凈化氣體。
4、防火活性炭在儲存或運輸時,防止與火源直接接觸,以防著火、活性炭再生時避免進氧并再生徹底,再生后必須用蒸汽冷卻降至80℃以下,否則溫度高,遇氧,活性炭自燃。

活性炭對揮發性有機物與可提取有機物吸附有著較大的差別。揮發性有機物隨分子量的增大,其吸附效果越好,而可提取有機物隨分子量的減小,其吸附效果越好。這主要是由于揮發性的有機物主要是一些極性比較小的有機物,而可提取的有機物是極性比較大的有機物,活性炭本身可以看作是一個非極性吸附劑,對水中非極性物質的吸附能力大于極性物質的吸附能力。而且,吸附質分子大小與活性炭呈一定比例時,較有利于吸附。對于極性較小的分子,分子量越大,越有利于吸附。
